Construction FAQ's

Who should I contact if I have questions?

Please contact the construction field office at (608)257-2493, FOR MARCH 2005 only. Please leave a message and someone from Ayres Associates will return your phone call.

How will construction effect businesses along the corridor?

Access will be maintained to businesses at most times during construction. If there is access to your business off a side road or alleyway, we would like you to consider using that as your access during construction. If access is only possible by using East Washington Avenue, then that driveway will be maintained during construction activities.

Can businesses place signs to direct patrons to their businesses during construction?

Yes, temporary signage by businesses to direct patrons around and through the construction site may be placed, but must first be approved by the City of Madison and WisDOT. There is a permit for a temporary sign available in word or pdf formats. Follow these links for examples of possible options for signs (Available in word of pdf format). Please contact the field office (608) 257-2493 for any questions. The form must be filled out and submitted to the field office. Field staff will coordinate with the City of Madison and WisDOT for permit approval.

Will pedestrian traffic be maintained during construction?

Pedestrian traffic will be maintained during construction along the existing sidewalks and at the signalized intersections of Blair Street, Paterson Street, Ingersoll Street and Baldwin Street.
